INTRODUCTION
Magnetic and capacitive sensors are used to measure positions or displacements of low to medium amplitudes (from fractions of a micrometer to 50 mm). Special designs enable nanometer resolution.
The footprint of these sensors is generally small, and they can be adapted to operate under difficult temperature and pressure conditions. High bandwidths are achieved with measurement principles that do not use a carrier frequency.
