4. Pendulum sensor
A kind of cast-iron pear is suspended from a chain or cable above the area where the product accumulates. When the product reaches its height, the pear loses its verticality, and a metal ball at its heart moves, activating a microswitch. The pear can be fitted with wings or extensions to facilitate tilting. It is particularly well-suited for use on embankments (figure

) and for heavy bulk goods (e.g. beet).
