9.1 Flange ring without connected shell
The stress distribution in equation 9.1 is determined in the same way as in a limit analysis: the entire cross-section is assumed to be plasticized. This zone is then defined by a compression zone and a tension zone. Z0 is the dimension where the tangential stress changes from + SF (respectively – SF) to – SF (respectively + SF).
We rewrite equations 7.2 and 7.3, introducing 9.1 to obtain 9.2 and 9.3.
Writing problem: equation 9.4 obtained from 9.2 is wrong. There is a sign error on eP and eQ. However, this error no longer appears in equation 9.5, which is derived from 9.3 and 9.4.
