Braking technology

A disc brake is a transformer of mechanical energy into heat energy. It consists of three main parts:

• a disc (or rotor), the rotating part; its role is to absorb and dissipate the mechanical energy transformed into heat during braking;

• a yoke assembly (or stator), NON rotating part; it can be fixed or have a translational or rotational movement 1.2 ;

• Friction surfaces, also known as friction pads, linings or pads, which are flat and perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
