Centrifugal turbines - Basic principles

To establish the general relationships, useful for centripetal turbines, we assume that :

• the regime is stationary, which implies that the flow is considered to be permanent in a reference frame linked to the fixed blades (distributor) or linked to the moving blades (rotor);

• the flow is one-dimensional;

• the action of gravity on the gas in the turbine is negligible;

• the rotor speed is constant.

No assumptions will be made about the nature of these developments.
