Charged air loop of the engines. Between engine performance and pollutant emission reduction

This article applies to the field of supercharged 2-stroke and 4-stroke spark-ignition (gasoline) or compression (diesel) internal combustion engines.

The function of the charge air line is to convey air from the compressor to the cylinder head. Its secondary function is to lower the temperature downstream of the compressor, in order to increase air density (improve engine filling). The study area is detailed in figure 1 .
