Clinching is a method of joining thin metal sheets. The sheets are locally deformed to be joined together, without the need for additional elements such as glue or mechanical connectors.

Clinching is an interesting joining method because it can be used to join sheets of different materials and thicknesses.

Another advantage is that assembly is carried out without a heat source, and therefore requires less energy.

If properly mastered, this method can replace spot welding.
