4. Cutting conditions
Cutting conditions are often optimized, especially for medium and large production runs. Companies without a specialized technical department rely on the recommendations provided by tool and machine manufacturers. In the case of major investments, manufacturers can provide turnkey equipment.
The introduction of new generations of tools based on CAD studies and using new coated cutting materials has called into question both tool performance and conditions of use. For example:
under baseline conditions, tool performance was increased 4 to 8 times for the hob and 3 to 4 times for the pinion;
Conversely, while maintaining identical tool performance, speeds can be increased by a factor of 1.5 to 3.
