1.1 Compositions and general characteristics of composite materials
The composite materials discussed in this article are defined by the combination of long fibers that can be considered quasi-continuous and an organic matrix (Figure 1 ) that holds them together through a process of fusion and solidification for thermoplastics, or polymerization for thermosets, depending on the nature of the polymer and the manufacturing process used.
