4. Calculating damage and service life from Power Spectral Density (PSD)
A mechanical system or component has a response to applied loads (DSP). This response can either be measured on a prototype subjected to qualification tests, or calculated from a global mechanical model.
The expression shows that the damage depends on the variance of the stress amplitudes. Relation (39) in § 3.1
