1. How to enter measurement point coordinates
During measurement, the probe performs three orthogonal translations relative to the machine frame, the displacement values of which are measured by rulers. From a machine origin, defined for example by the origins of each of the measuring rulers, the three displacements are the coordinates of a point P on the measuring machine slide (figure 1).
To measure the shape of all or part of the surface of an object placed on the machine's marble, a sphere with center ω, located at the tip of the stylus, successively touches different selected points Mi of the object's surface. Not all points on the surface to be characterized are accessible with a single stylus orientation. It is therefore necessary to adapt this orientation so that the stylus sphere comes into contact with the object surface without encountering any obstacles...
