Sensors using magnetic methods are capable of measuring the position or displacement of parts that are :

• or magnetized;

• or ferromagnetic;

• or just conductors.

The measurement of a distance or its variations is carried out by :

• measurement of magnetic induction or its variations ;

• or impedance measurement ;

• or the coupling of windings mounted on a magnetic circuit.

• Magnetic induction can be measured using Hall-effect sensors, magnetoresistors or saturable magnetic circuits. To measure variations in magnetic induction, a coil mounted on a magnetic circuit can be used....
