5. Conclusion

The emergence of a pandemic with an emerging virus has raised many questions about the management of healthcare waste, both for people at home or in grouping facilities, suspected or suffering from the Covid-19 disease, and for healthcare professionals working in private practice or in different categories of medical, social or health establishments, as well as for waste collection personnel.

The Haut Conseil de la Santé Publique (High Council for Public Health), consulted by the health authorities, took into account the scientific knowledge known about the coronavirus family or acquired over time about this new virus, SARS-CoV-2, its experimental persistence on different surfaces and its modes of transmission, mainly human-to-human.
