3. Methodological problems

3.1 Phase correction

The previous calculation scheme may lead to erroneous results, as the basic equation (1) and the previous scheme assume a zero phase shift between the thermal response and the modulated excitation signal q (t ) in the absence of kinetic phenomena. This assumption is not entirely accurate: the phase shift between the two experimental signals is due to the time required for heat exchange between the DSC cell and the sample itself (non-exhaustively, this includes the geometry and symmetry of the cell, the cup/support...
