8. Conclusion

GC-MS coupling, combined with large libraries of electron ionization spectra, is still a reliable, high-performance method for analyzing vaporizable substances, even at high temperatures. An established method does not mean that it is set in stone, and technological innovations continue to be described on a regular basis.

In the next article of this series [P 1 492] , the description of the coupling with liquid chromatography (LC-MS) will show more complex mass spectrometry equipment – which excludes GC-MS...
