2. Radial field machines
The machine consists of a relatively simple structure (figure
3
): the stator, fitted with single- or multi-star, or even multi-phase windings, creates a rotating field when connected to electronic converters. The interaction of this field with the magnetic flux of the rotor magnets generates torque on the rim and, by mechanical connection, on the rotor shaft. The rotor is guided in rotation by bearings fixed to the machine casing or frame.
