Fuel cells powered by liquid fuel

The "heart" of the direct-oxidation liquid fuel cell is the assembly of membrane and MEA electrodes. This assembly is made up of five elements:

• the liquid fuel diffusion layer at the anode;

• the anodic catalytic layer;

• the separating membrane ;

• the cathodic catalytic layer;

• the gas diffusion layer O ₂ or air at the cathode.
