Consider the cable shown in figure

, cut through a plane orthogonal to its axis. It has three phase conductors numbered1,2,3 at angles equal to 2π/3, a neutral conductor numbered4 whose axis coincides with that of the cable, and a screen numbered5. All these conductors, insulated by a dielectric of permittivity ε, constitute equipotentials.
