Micas and micaceous products

For applications in the electrical industry, as already mentioned in the preceding paragraphs, only muscovite and phlogopite grades are used. Moreover, since mica-cleavage-based micaceous insulating materials, which were widely used until the 1970s, have been gradually replaced by mica-paper-based products for both technical and economic reasons, only mica-paper-based micaceous insulating materials are discussed here. However, natural micas in the form of cleavages continue to be used in very specific fields, and warrant a separate paragraph.
