Chapter 1.1 examines the properties that must be met by a continuously distributed winding for it to generate a sinusoidal progressive MMF (under the assumption of a sinusoidal current supply). Consequently, in chapter 1.2 , the concept of a symmetrical winding is defined and the conditions of magnetic equivalence with so-called semi-symmetrical and asymmetrical windings are presented.
