The thermodynamic point of view provides a powerful and generic basis for formalizing the problem of electromechanical energy conversion. Thus, in accordance with the diagram shown in figure 1, the converters studied will be considered, in general terms, as closed systems capable of transferring energy between electrical and mechanical generators and receivers, by exploiting one or more electro-magnetic-mechanical interaction phenomena.
