7. Conclusion

The very high capacitance of supercapacitors is sometimes confusing, because experimentally, their charging or discharging is slow when there is no source delivering high currents.

For the time being, they are mainly of interest for energy storage, and compete with batteries, especially in terms of the speed of charge – discharge cycles.

Their low voltage rating makes it difficult to find power components with both a very low on-state voltage drop and a very high maximum acceptable current.

We have seen that the capacitive storage chopper is only of interest when load voltages above 20 V are used.
