5. Thermal insulation for resistance furnaces
The furnace lining thermally insulates the heating chamber from the outside world. Materials are selected on the basis of their low thermal conductivity (insulators), mechanical strength and ability to withstand process temperatures (refractories). To meet these requirements, multi-layer linings are often used.
5.1 Classification according to standards
The French refractory industry association has published a list of PRE (Produit Réfractaire Européen) recommendations.
