The previous sections have described various concepts that can be used to determine technical losses on a network, in terms of power and energy. The practical implementation of these concepts is presented below.

To draw up an energy balance, we need to go back and forth between various methods for a given perimeter: the outgoing energy of a voltage level will be the incoming energy of the downstream level.

Losses will be determined in a traditional generation-transport-distribution system, from upstream to downstream, from generation to customer connection. Common assumptions between two voltage levels can be defined.
