3. Industrial and special cables
Industrial" applies to all cables standardized at national level, manufactured in very large series and used in domestic and industrial applications in conventional environments with no specific constraints. When very specific environmental conditions are added (irradiation, presence of aggressive products, immersion, high temperatures, etc.) and/or specific functional characteristics (fire behavior, etc.), these cables are said to be "special" insofar as the materials used, the technologies developed and the tests carried out make them high value-added products, leading to their manufacture in limited lengths. Most of the time, they are the subject of company technical specifications, although, for example, cables with improved fire behavior [NF C 32-323] have been standardized....
