2. Selecting and carrying out insulation work
The percentages of heat loss by area (see figure above) make it easier to decide which work to carry out. As a priority, we recommend starting with the insulation of roofs and attics, then walls, windows, and doors, and finally floors and ceilings, without forgetting to treat thermal bridges.
2.1 Insulate roofs and attics
The laws of nature dictate that heat rises from the floor to the roof, and this is where most of it escapes if the roof is not properly sealed. To improve efficiency, all defects detected during the thermal diagnosis must be addressed. Insulation must be installed on a sound roof, i.e., one that is free of moisture stains, fungi, and wood-eating insects. This is the minimum precaution that must be taken.
