In this first paragraph, we present the simplified two-dimensional equations of aquifer hydrodynamics and well flow. Water flow in the aquifer is assumed to be the same over the entire water head h (no z-variation in parameters).
In cylindrical coordinates (r, θ, z), the equation for underground hydrodynamics at the aquifer well at rest in a porous medium assumed to be homogeneous and isotropic is expressed as a function of the single variable r and time t by the partial differential equation :
