Natural gas

The transportation of natural gas is inherently much more difficult and costly than that of oil, due to its gaseous state, which results in high compressibility and low energy density. This explains why, for a long time, gas deposits were only of interest to companies if they were relatively close to the point of consumption, while deposits found in isolated locations were only developed if their size justified the necessary infrastructure (> 3 Tcf, see figure 1 ), otherwise they remained "stranded gas fields"....
