Deacidification processes can be classified into three main families:

• scavengers or adsorption processes, which aim to remove H ₂ S or other minority sulfur compounds (COS, RSH, CS ₂ , light sulfides), suitable for gases with low H ₂ S contents;

• redox processes, which aim to remove H ₂ S, suitable for gases with low to moderate H ₂ S concentrations, and which have the advantage of removing sulfur directly in solid form ;
