Solution riche; rich solution
Refrigerant-rich solution. In the case of the H
2
O-LiBr couple, it is sometimes called dilute or weak solution, in connection with the names used in chemical engineering for aqueous solutions or electrolytes.
Poor solution; poor solution
Solution low in refrigerant. In the case of the H
2
O-LiBr couple, it is also called concentrated or strong solution.
COP; Coefficient of Performance
Ratio between the cooling capacity produced (or thermal capacity in the case of a heat pump) and the thermal capacity consumed. Since electrical power is low for absorption machines (< 1% of power produced), it is not taken into account when determining COP....
