Absorption machines are trithermal thermal converters, presented in the

article on thermal converters. In these machines, the driving energy is heat via thermal compression, unlike conventional liquid chiller units (LCUs) in which the driving energy is mechanical compression.
The nature of the components in an absorption unit and a mechanical compression unit differs only in the compression element (figure
