1. Temperature effects
A temperature effect is any change in the neutron properties of a medium or core observed when one or other of the temperatures of its constituent materials varies.
Among these properties, the most important is the multiplication factor, and we'll restrict ourselves here to this case.
The variation of the multiplication factor k with one of the temperatures T is measured by the logarithmic derivative :
