INTRODUCTION
The accident at Unit 2 of the Three Mile Island (TMI-2) nuclear power plant occurred on March 28, 1979. This article describes how the accident unfolded, and then, after analyzing the consequences and post-accident examinations of the core and reactor vessel, presents the lessons learned from the event.
