Radioactive waste. Operational management

The objective for short-lived waste repositories (or repositories containing traces of long-lived radionuclides) is to isolate the storage waste packages from the biosphere in such a way that neither radiation from the packages nor any radionuclides that might escape from them reach man for several centuries.
