7. Future prospects for assessment
Future progress will come from two sources: advances in the experimental
field (more precise measurements, targeting discriminating observables)
and in the theoretical field.
Although modeling is playing an increasingly important role in
assessment, experimental data are crucial for constraining model parameters
and validating predictions. It is therefore essential to pursue the
measurement effort in two directions:
precise and targeted measurements of important reactions,
in order to fill gaps or answer questions about nuclei that are directly
useful for applications;
