3. Types of data measurement
The modeling of neutron cross sections is based on nuclear reaction
models whose parameters are not currently predicted with sufficient
accuracy by microscopic physical theories. They are therefore adjusted
to a set of observations (measurements). Three types of experiments
are then analyzed: microscopic experiments, analytical integral experiments
targeting the influence of a particular nuclide, and integral experiments
(known as "mock-ups"), representative of reactor concepts.
Microscopic (or differential) experiments are mainly those which
measure certain attributes of the particles (projectile and ejecta)
involved in the reaction: their type (neutron, gamma, alpha, electron,
