In France, for example, modern warehouses and swimming pools are expected to last at least fifty years. Even better prospects are conceivable, particularly for the latest generation of warehouses, which will, if necessary, reach operating lifetimes of 100 years or more.

These are technical assessments, with no binding opinion at this stage from the French nuclear safety authority (Autorité de sûreté nucléaire), which has already indicated that authorizations will be issued for limited periods, from one to several decades, whatever the sustainability objectives and concepts adopted.
