2.1 Definitions
The calorific value (noted PC) is a variant of the notion of heat of combustion [BE 8 311]. It is defined as follows:
The calorific value of a fuel is the quantity of heat released by the complete combustion of a given quantity of any fuel taken, as its oxidant, at 0°C, the products of combustion themselves being returned to the initial conditions of temperature and pressure or volume.
The reference fuel quantity is :
1 kg for solids and liquids ;
1 Nm 3 for gases.
