Condensation of vapour mixtures - Heat and mass transfer

The enthalpy curve or condensation curve method is a simple way of calculating the overall exchange coefficient when condensing a mixture of vapors. The values obtained using this theory are approximate, but can be made more precise by means of two types of correction. The first correction consists in taking into account the influence of mass transfer on heat transfer by replacing the vapour-side heat exchange coefficient a _G by a heat exchange coefficient ${\alpha }_G^{\ast }$ derived from film theory. The second consists in taking into account the importance of mass transfer in relation to the importance of heat transfer by using a multiplicative factor linked to the Lewis number.
