deals with the film-like condensation of pure steam on smooth, immobile surfaces. Particularly important industrial applications of condensation are presented. These include condensation on profiled surfaces, where surface tension is a key parameter. It is also the case of condensation of a vapor in the presence of an incondensable gas, or of vapor mixtures. Such situations are common in industry, particularly and increasingly so in the field of refrigeration machines. Finally, the last section presents the phenomenon of direct condensation by mixing between a vapor and a cold liquid, and in particular the condensation of a vapor on sub-cooled, bulk or sprayed liquid jets.
