In the first part
, we have developed the general principles of convection.
This second part covers a wide range of experimental situations, described either by simple geometries (external flow on a flat plate, flow between two parallel planes or in straight pipes of constant cross-section), or by more complex geometries (flow around bundles of tubes, disks or rings, in rectangular cells, or around cylinders).
In each case, data from the literature are presented in terms of Nusselt numbers, enabling us to quickly assess the order of magnitude of wall exchange coefficients.
For reasons of size, we have split this article into two. This first article
deals only with forced and natural convection in simple geometries. The second
will deal with mixed convection in simple geometries and convection in complex geometries.
