It's well recognized that regular consumption of green vegetables, fruit, fiber and fish, combined with daily exercise, has a protective effect against the onset of pathologies and is therefore a factor in longevity. Conversely, a high-calorie diet (rich in refined sugars, animal fats and meat), combined with smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and a sedentary lifestyle, will increase the risk of vascular disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension and cancer.
