The global market for crop protection products is constantly evolving, and has been estimated at $50 billion for 2019. Two product groups share this colossal market: chemical pesticides and biopesticides. With increasingly restrictive regulations on the use of chemicals, and the desire of governments for "cleaner", more sustainable agriculture, biopesticides have gradually gained ground (table 1). Exponential growth is expected in this market, which currently only represents around $4 billion
