Natural Polymers Formulation in Cosmetics

Polymers are incorporated into cosmetic formulas to :

• form films ;

• to control the rheology of cosmetic products, i.e. to act as a thickener, to give a feel with good compatibility of the formula's constituents... ;

• stabilize emulsions ;

• make the film adhere to the various surfaces of the human body (skin, lips, nails, eyelashes, hair, etc.);

• play on skin hydration once the film has formed;

• encapsulate active ingredients to modulate their bioavailability;

• create special visual effects.

The solution generally adopted is to blend several polymers, playing on the advantages of each and creating synergies....
