Agitation. Mixing - Technical and economic aspects

The procedure for hydraulic, mechanical and economic extrapolation of an agitation system is described.

We assume a mixing operation (homogenization) carried out in a 10 m³ tank, to be extrapolated to a 100 m³ tank. In this case, local and mean fluid velocities are kept identical, and a longer mixing time is assumed for industrial capacity.

• Similarity

  Extrapolation is based on the similarity of geometric characteristics and the conservation of phenomena deemed to be predominant, the ideal being to maintain perfect similarity (kinematic, dynamic, chemical and thermal similarities).
