The chemical aspects of the extraction, preparation, processing and application of metals and alloys represent only part of the coverage of the metallurgy holdings. However, these sources (table 4) sometimes contain information that is not included in the chemical holdings. Metadex (Metals Abstracts) is the reference database in the field. Chemical Abstracts devotes three sections to metallurgy: 54 (extractive metallurgy), 55 (ferrous metals and alloys) and 56 (non-ferrous metals and alloys).
