2. Schwarz methods
For the one-dimensional case of the

equation, we will first describe the "historical" Schwarz methods presented by H.A. Schwarz (alternating method) and then P.L. Lions (parallel method). We will then discretize them and interpret the discrete algorithms obtained in terms of relaxation algorithms. We then present the discrete algorithms, in particular the additive Schwarz method by M. Dryja and O. Widlund.
