ABSTRACT

Dissipation phenomena, a relatively complex topic, can be found in numerous application domains and disciplines. After a brief overview of the current context in terms of nanotechnologies, this article explains dissipation phenomena in nanosystems. In addition the origin of the noises associated to these nanosystems are covered. Subsequently the particular case of the Brownian noise is detailed. In conclusion, explanations on dissipation and noises in an inertial nanosensor and in a nanoresonator are given.

 INTRODUCTION

The term nanotechnology is a generic name that encompasses a multitude of disciplines and applications without any real consistency or connection. These include nanoelectronics, spintronics, molecular electronics, nanomaterials, photonic nanocrystals, nanoparticles in cosmetics, biochips in biochemistry, and electromechanical nanosystems.

Electronics appears to be the most advanced sector in the field of nanotechnology.
