1. Impulse maneuvering
To reach and maintain its operational orbit, a satellite must perform orbit-change maneuvers. With a high-thrust engine, the duration of these maneuvers is short in relation to the orbital period. They can be modeled as instantaneous impulses modifying velocity at a fixed position.
