5. Electrical conversion
There are three types of converters:
4-quadrant single-phase rectifier (figure 16a) delivering a regulated rectified voltage which, from the secondary voltage of the transformer, serves as a DC bus for supplying the inverter. It is reversible and operates as an inverter during regenerative braking. It is sometimes referred to as a single-phase forced-switching bridge (PMCF), mixed rectifier, PWM inverter (pulse-width modulation, active rectifier);
